SNMP is available for all lower 48 contiguous States.
To download the SNMP Program for your state, either:
A) Click on a state using the map below

States currently supported by MMP (Manure Management Planner)

States planned for MMP but not yet supported

States not yet visited by MMP development team
OR
B) Select a state from the drop-down list
---not
available for Alaska, Hawaii, or the District of Columbia---
Downloading Instructions:
- Select state using the Map or Drop-Down List above, that
corresponds to your farm's location.
- For the purpose of downloading the appropriate geographical coordinates of your farm, most states are
divided into zones. Click on the zone where your farm resides to save the appropriate SetupSNMP_xxx.exe
file. (xxx refers to the abbreviations for your state
and zone). Some states are not divided into zones. These states
are: ME, RI, NJ, DE, SC, AL, IN, MO, and NV. A download box will
automatically appear when one of these states is selected from the map.
- Make sure the folder name you save in contains no spaces.
- Once saved, double click on the .exe file to run the installation procedure.
- Follow the instructions given in the dialog box that appears.
- To start SNMP, double click on the desktop shortcut that has appeared.
- To use the example farm included with the Missouri version of this software, select "Example" from the list on
the SNMP Shell interface, then click the "Open" button (Note: The
example farm will soon be made a separate download).
System Requirements:
- ESRI's ArcView desktop GIS
software, version 3.x or higher, preferably 3.2 or 3.3. (Note: This
program does not currently support ArcView 8.x)
- Approximately 15 MB of hard drive space. Add about 37-50
MB of hard drive space for each full-size DOQQ file added or 90-150 MB for
each full-size color/infrared DOQQ file added. (see Additional
Requirements below for more information about DOQQ files)
- Screen capable of at least 800x600 pixel resolution
Additional Requirements:
- SNMP requires the digitized orthophoto quarter
quadrangle (DOQQ) for the farm. The DOQQ is a georeferenced aerial
photograph and can be in TIFF, MrSid, JPEG, BSQ, and many other
formats. The program will provide you with the DOQQ file name needed
for your farm.Note: In the SNMP interface, DOQQs are referred to as
"photos".
- Though optional, soil data is also highly recommended.
- Visit the SNMP Data Finder to
see if DOQQ files and soil data are available for your farm. If
DOQQ files are unavailable for your location, contact your local NRCS office or visit the USGS
website to check for availability.
Note: If you
intend to use the "Create MMP Plan" or "Update MMP
Plan" functions, you will need to downloadthe Manure
Management Planner software.
