The first is to not upgrade SNMP for the particular operation for which you wish to preserve your maps. Even if you install the newest version of SNMP, any pre-existing operations will still, by default, be using the old version. To upgrade an existing operation, you must use the Update function on the SNMP Shell. If you want to preserve your original maps for a given operation, do not update that particular operation. It will not adversely affect the functioning of SNMP to have a mixture of operations using the older and newer versions. Note: For more instructions on updating an operation, go to the SNMP Shell Help and read the "Introduction to SNMP Shell" section.
The second is to export your map compositions into a graphic file,
such as a JPEG, using the
Export button on the Map Tools menu. For more details on
using this function, go to the SNMP Help and read the entry
under "Tasks and Functions >> Working With Maps >> Exporting Maps". Note: Once you
export, you can no longer alter the existing features on the map.
You may add new features such as text, but anything that already
existed on the map when you exported it can no longer be altered.
